II International Investment Forum
On 11 and July 12 took place the Second International Forum of Investment in technology-based companies
The Canary Islands became for two days the international showcase of the knowledge based economy and the place where high-tech projects of Canarian companies and foreign companies that want to develop in the islands, presented their projects to investors, in order to secure financing that will allow his execution in the islands. The forum is one element of the investment policy of the Government of the Canary Islands, aimed at diversifying the regional economy and to offer innovative alternatives to enhance the economic sector of the Islands.
The meeting brought together investors from the United States, Europe and Latin America who explained the importance of encouraging the creation of high-tech companies to position the economy of regions in the global marketplace. They included Jose Maria Leblanc, general manager of Intel Capital (Silicon Valley); Manuel Lopez Figueroa, vice president of Bay City Capital (San Francisco); Simon Goldbard, investor analyst and expert in the area bio (Silicon Valley); Emiliano Kargieman and Jonatan Altszul, both directors of Aconcagua Ventures (Boston-Buenos Aires); Adolfo Nemirovsky, entrepreneurial and business development advisor of technology companies in early stages of U.S., Israel, Europe and Latin America; Mario Nemirovsky, an analyst and investor expert Silicon Valley and Luis Martin Cabiedes, private investor (Barcelona).
More than 20 entrepreneurs presented, for 5 minutes, their projects before a large group of experts and investors to discuss business opportunities and expansion in the international market. Another of the highlights of the event were the "one to one" meetings in which entrepreneurs described in detail their products and services to investors interested in them.
In addition during the Forum took place several panel discussions involving prominent personalities in Silicon Valley, San Diego and other global centers of technology, as well as key players in Latin countries and Europe. In one case, held under the title "Global Start-ups: Silicon Valley outside of Silicon Valley", will decipher what "Latino recipe" for creating a global knowledge economy in the respective countries.
In the various panel discussions the experts raised, that it is necessary for the Canaries, and in general all regions, to identify their needs and forces to optimize power, creating savings that will result in capital. They assured that the key is to know how to conduct successful models they become unique business opportunities and that is possible to gamble on the knowledge economy and projects intensive high-tech.
